FIRST SEMESTER

SD 1541          Seminar for Doctoral Students.                                                                                                      4 ECTS

This seminar is primarily methodological, although due concern is given to matters of doctrine. It treats of the nature of a doctoral dissertation, of making a positive contribution to the science of theology, choosing a topic, and the manner of presenting the written work. Each student will write a short paper presenting an argument and will distribute the paper to the students and the professor at a prearranged time. Each student will correct and evaluate every paper that is presented, and at most sessions, a student will present his or her argument at a mock defense, with other students role-playing the moderator, the censor, etc. The student will then rewrite the paper in light of the observations received.
